Planning Board
Mission Statement
The Planning Board’s role in development is to review and approve the subdivision of land, site plans (for businesses), and certain special permits.
The Planning Board is governed by local, state, and federal statutes regulating the development of land. Therefore, it must ensure that each project meets the spirit and intent of the local Zoning By-laws and/or subdivision regulations (available for purchase in the Town Clerks Office or online), as well as state and federal law, and the town's Master Plan. The Planning Board strongly recommends pre-submission review for guidance on any project that you may want to develop in Rehoboth. There is no fee for this service nor is there a limit on how many times you may appear before the Board for such pre-submission review.
The Rehoboth Planning Board consists of seven members and an Associate Member. The members are elected to staggered five-year terms. The Associate Member is appointed by the Planning Board for a one-year term. The Associate Member participates in Special Permit decisions in the absence of a regular member.
